The East Mebon temple is very similar to the state temple Pre Rup, and was built by the same King Rajendravarman around the same time (953 AD). It stands on a north-south axis with Pre Rup but is inside the East Baray. This means that in its time, it would only have been accessible by boat. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
